According to a recent article on domestic violence, dated
September 12, 2003 , domestic violence is on the rise;
a battering occurs every 15 seconds in the U.S.
And if you think it's
not happening in your backyard, think again. Violence
is color, gender and income-blind. It can happen in
big cities and in rural areas. And no matter who the
victims are, they have one thing in common: They need
your help.
The victims of domestic
violence in your community desperately need a safe place
to go when they're threatened or terrorized by their
spouses, partners or parents. Some of these victims,
when they discover that we have no such facility, are
lost to us.
That's why we need your
help. We desperately need to secure our own facility
-- we need the capability to truly provide safety and
individual care.
Johnnie's House, Inc.
is launching the "Safe Haven Campaign" to
raise money toward the purchase of property in an undisclosed
location in our area. Our new "house" will
allow us to provide these men, women and children an
immediate safe haven. (Right now, we have contracts
with other undisclosed locations in all (50) states
for these facilities.)
Through Johnnie's House,
victims are able to establish new identities, housing
and support. We help them to reclaim their lives --
with strength and in safety.
